Club Profile
Alexandra lies in the heart of Central Otago and is known for its wonderful climate – hot and dry in summer and cold in winter – perfect conditions for the many orchards and wineries located in the area. The unique and rugged scenery, the mighty Clutha River and the well maintained walking and biking trails are just some of the attractions that draw visitors to this beautiful part of the South Island.
The Alexandra Bridge Club was started by a small group of keen card players back in 1972. Our current premises in the quaint, historic town of Clyde were purchased in 1982, and our membership remains active, steady and strong. Bridge sessions are held three times per week, on Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as on Friday mornings. We also run three tournaments each year and these attract players from Invercargill, Dunedin, Queenstown, Wanaka and places in between. We have even had participants from Christchurch and the North Island.
We welcome visitors to call in for a game. Why not round off your holiday in this stunning part of the South Island by an enjoyable night of bridge with us. We look forward to meeting you. Visitors and casual players are most welcome and the cost is $3.00 per session.
